One of our property owner clients contacted JSW’s in house claims team with a flood problem.
Whilst having the bathroom renovated, in a tenanted property, the contractor removed the bath and found extensive water damage underneath.
It appeared there had been a slow leak ongoing for some time causing the floor boards and joists below to become rotten.
A loss adjuster inspected the property and declined the claim due to the damage being caused gradually overtime.
Sam Littlehales our Claims Handler challenged the decision with the loss adjuster as she felt his decision to repudiate the claim was unfair. Given the fact there was no evidence of the water leak, until the bath was removed.
The loss adjuster referred back to insurers and they agreed to settle the claim in full.
